Play is important work!

Play is the work of childhood and at Fernie Kids we work hard!

Fernie Kids is a multi-age daycare centre

Much like in a family, your child will have opportunities to learn from a diverse range of ages which helps them learn important social developmental skills.

Fernie Kids is a licensed childcare centre

Inspections and safety checks ensure that third party governmental approval has been granted and is maintained.

Fernie Kids is more than just fun

I am a licensed Early Childhood and Infant Toddler Educator and take pride in ensuring that your child's developmental skills are not just being met, but are also being challenged. This is not "babysitting!"

Fernie Kids embraces the outdoors!

We live in beautiful Fernie, BC and as such, we go outside as often as possible to enjoy nature. Please expect your child to learn to appreciate the wonder of our world and please pack extra clothes. We will get grubby!

Fernie Kids wants you to know...

That it's all about the children. I pay close attention to each child’s interests, abilities and learning style and respond appropriately. By using a variety of hands-on materials and direct experience activities, learning is fun and natural. My curriculum plans support the body and mind (physical/motor, cognitive and language development), as well as the heart and soul (emotional, social and creative growth) for your child.

CHILDREN are AMAZING!

An ECE is trained to understand your child's behaviour, the factors that lead to that behaviour and how to effectively guide behaviour when required.

A child's first few years of learning are imperative as this is the time their brain is forming neurons at a staggering rate. This brain development is influenced by many factors, including a child’s relationships, experiences and environment.

It is important that a child's development is nurtured and supported. This includes an awareness of physical growth and motor development, cognitive skills and language skills.

A sound understanding of a child's emotional, social and creative development is necessary to support your child's future endeavours.

Habits and attitudes are formed at an early age and stay with children throughout their lifetime. Because of this, it is important to instil habits that encourage activity and eating healthy, safe, and nutritious food.

Creative curriculum implementation includes an awareness of a child's developmental stages and the willingness to embrace and develop emergent curriculum.
